Digital Learning Strategist

We need you!

We are seeking exceptional Learning Strategists with a developed understanding of learning content and curriculum/programmatic design to take a leading role within our world-class Learning Design team.

To succeed in this role, you will need to be a highly skilled learning designer with an advanced grasp of best practice in both fully-online and blended learning design. You will also need to be an exceptional communicator who can build rapport with and have influence over both clients and colleagues.

In line with our “learning first” values, your love of digital learning will be driven by a passion for learning science and a desire to disrupt the status quo through the design and delivery of rich and impactful learning experiences.

You will have at least 4 year’s experience of designing theory-informed, strategically driven online and blended learning experiences. You will also have experience of communicating and influencing in high-stakes environments

Learning Theory, Strategy and Design

  • Draws on an advanced understanding of curriculum and content design theories to design world-class online and blended learning strategies in response to clients’ strategic, pedagogical and practical needs

  • Leads the 'discovery phase' of projects, leading co-creation workshops/design sprints with clients and the wider Construct team (for example production, tech, SMEs) to develop learning solutions mapped to learning and business goals.

  • Coaches clients through a Design Sprint Process, following inductive models of curriculum design set by the Chief Learning Officer

  • Defines learning and evaluation strategies in collaboration with the Chief Learning Officer

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Builds exceptionally strong client relationships, acting as the lead design contact and
    co-creating learning designs with world-leading clients

  • Presents and champions design concepts to clients

  • Collaborates with Construct’s Chief Learning Officer, Learning Designers, Course
    Builders, Production team and Tech/Platform team to design and deliver exceptional
    online and blended learning experiences

  • Manages and coaches a remote team of Instructional Designers, overseeing the
    design process and ensuring quality of outputs

  • Leads on the production of evaluation reports for their courses, based on data
    generated by course builders and according to an evaluation strategy set by the Chief
    Learning Officer.

  • Learning Science: drawing on exceptional technical knowledge of Andragogy and
    Pedagogy to design “learning first” online and blended learning experiences
    grounded in cutting edge learning science

  • Building Relationships: developing trusted and respected advisor relationships with
    multidisciplinary colleagues and premium clients

  • Distance Managing: building strong, meaningful manager / coach relationship with
    members of the learning design team in Cape Town

  • Influencing: using your expertise and communications skills to assert your position
    and ensure the best possible quality outcomes

  • The bigger picture: understanding the power of platforms and tools to deliver
    powerful, cutting-edge digital learning experiences

  • The detail: working with a sharp eye for detail to drive exceptional quality levels

Education level

Ideally Master’s level (minimum of Undergraduate Degree level)
qualification, ideally Ed-Tech or Education-related


  • Experience of curriculum and content design for face to face, online and/or blended learning experiences, ideally for adult learners

  • Experience of teaching face to face, online and/or as part of a blended learning programme would be favourable
